Field Visit Report: Polytechnic Yaoundé
Wednesday, 09 September 2026 · 12:00 PM · Polytechnic Yaoundé (ENSPY)
An advance mission to Polytechnic Yaoundé to formally submit ASPY Alumni's official correspondence to the Director, establish initial contact with key departments ahead of the formal partnership request, and assess the state of the school and its anglophone student community.
Delegation & Report
- Vice President: Eng. Fonyuy Blaise
- Member: Eng. Wanyu Nehemiah
- Report prepared by: Eng. Fonyuy Blaise (VP)
- Status: Final — signed 29 September 2026
Course of the Visit
Letter Submission — School Secretariat (12:00)
The official letter to the Director of Polytechnic Yaoundé was submitted at the school secretariat; a signed décharge (acknowledgement of receipt) was retained as formal proof of submission.
Meeting with Prof. Mboyomo, Interim Assistant Director
Noted the school is “slowly dying” amid a teachers' strike, and that official government registration is the prerequisite for any formal partnership with the school. She referred the delegation to Mr. Nzoukou Felix (Associations & Cultural Activities) and offered her support despite her interim dual role.
Génie Mécanique Department
Warm reception. The HOD observed declining anglophone student performance, partly due to the discontinued “cours de soutien” support classes that previous alumni generations once organised, and welcomed alumni support.
Génie Électrique Department
A difficult meeting with the new HOD, marked by broad complaints about staffing, resources and administration — reinforcing the picture of a school under significant institutional stress.
Key Findings
- ▸Official government registration is a prerequisite for any formal partnership with the school — a critical priority.
- ▸Polytechnic Yaoundé is in institutional decline, confirmed independently by the Assistant Director and both HODs.
- ▸Anglophone students are underperforming, partly due to the absence of the support classes alumni once provided.
- ▸Key school roles are covered on an interim basis, and the teachers' strike constrained the day's engagements.
- ▸Mr. Nzoukou Felix (+237 6 97 54 72 58) is the key contact for student associations — priority follow-up.
Recommended Actions
Accelerate the official government registration of ASPY Alumni — a prerequisite for any formal school partnership (President).

Priority: High
Send a formal thank-you letter to Prof. Mboyomo (Secretary General, within 1 week).
Priority: High

Priority: Medium
Explore reviving the “cours de soutien” programme for current anglophone students, organised and funded by members (within 3 months).
Priority: Medium
Plan a second, more structured visit once registration is confirmed and the website's self-registration is live.
